Muslims congregated in various areas of Metro Manila early Sunday morning to observe Eid’l Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice.
Super Radyo dzBB reported that one of the significant gathering spots for the prayers was Rizal Park in Manila. Before the prayers commenced, the imam encouraged attendees to seek forgiveness from their neighbors and loved ones, emphasizing the themes of sacrifice and devotion to Allah.
To ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the Eid’l Adha prayers, the Manila Police District (MPD) deployed officers at Rizal Park and around Masjid Al-Dahab, also known as the Manila Golden Mosque, in Quiapo. MPD Director Police Brigadier General Thomas Ibay confirmed the deployment.
In addition to Rizal Park, Eid’l Adha prayers were also held at the Blue Mosque in Barangay Maharlika Village, Taguig City. Following the prayers, the tradition of sharing meat from animals such as goats, sheep, and cattle among families, friends, and the needy was observed.
Eid’l Adha is a significant Islamic holiday commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion to Allah.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declared June 17, Monday, a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced that employees who work on Monday would be entitled to double pay.
