The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) reported sightings of suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo in Bulacan before the Senate issued an arrest order against her. NBI Assistant Director Angelito Magno revealed this during the Senate investigation into raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hubs.
Senate Grills Law Enforcement
Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada criticized law enforcement agencies for their failure to arrest Guo since the issuance of the arrest order two weeks ago. “We were informed by our assets prior to the issuance of the warrant of arrest, there are some sightings in Bulacan. However, when the team went to the possible locations of the sightings—as of now, there has been no arrest,” Magno stated.
Estrada warned the NBI and the Philippine National Police (PNP) that their budgets might be affected if they fail to arrest Guo within a month. “If you cannot arrest her within a month, your proposed budgets might be affected,” Estrada warned.
Law Enforcement Efforts
Magno assured that the NBI is doing its best to arrest Guo, stating that the arrest order has been communicated to NBI regional and district offices. The NBI Cybercrime Group is also trying to locate Guo’s IP address following her recent Facebook posts.
Police Colonel Jun Mark Lagare, chief of staff of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), confirmed that a tracker team has been assigned to locate Guo, but the PNP has yet to provide updates on possible leads.
Bureau of Immigration’s Statement
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed that Alice Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping, is still in the Philippines. “Based on our record this morning, Alice Guo/Guo Hua Ping is still in the country,” said BI Prosecution and Legal Assistance Section head Homer Arellano.
The Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality is investigating Guo’s involvement in the illegal POGO hub raided in her town. Guo’s citizenship is also under scrutiny due to inconsistent testimonies and dubious documents regarding her Filipino citizenship.
