Netflix is set to premiere a gripping documentary titled Titan: The OceanGate Disaster on June 11, exploring the tragic implosion of the Titan submersible during its ill-fated dive to the Titanic wreck in 2023.
The documentary centers on OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who piloted the sub when it lost contact just an hour and 45 minutes into its descent. The incident claimed the lives of all five passengers, including Rush himself.
Joining Rush on the dive were renowned figures: British billionaire Hamish Harding; Pakistani-born businessman Shahzada Dawood and his teenage son Suleman, both British citizens; and French Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet.
The trailer promises new insights into the “shocking decisions” that led to the catastrophe, highlighting the dangers of pushing technological boundaries in extreme environments. Netflix teases the film with the tagline: “The deeper you look, the darker it gets.”
The documentary aims to deliver a comprehensive look into the controversial choices and safety concerns surrounding OceanGate’s deep-sea expedition.
