Veteran radio host Nicole Hyala has publicly shared that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
In a heartfelt post on social media, Nicole uploaded a video recorded two weeks earlier, where she opened up about her diagnosis on her radio show. “So… I just found out I have thyroid cancer,” she revealed, adding that she surprisingly feels calm.
She reassured her listeners and followers by noting that experts often refer to thyroid cancer as the “friendliest” form of cancer. “That’s good, because I’ve already been through worse,” she said.
Reflecting on past struggles, Nicole shared that she’s endured moments that nearly broke her, but has emerged still standing, smiling, and shining. “This is just another wave I know I can ride, with God beside me,” she added.
Nicole emphasized that while cancer wasn’t part of her plan, she firmly believes it’s part of God’s. “Thyroid cancer, you’re just another name—and I have faith in the One who’s above all names,” she declared. “You picked the wrong girl. Wag ako. Hahahahaha!”
She also shared that she is scheduled to undergo thyroid surgery, or a thyroidectomy, this July.
According to Mayo Clinic, thyroid cancer typically begins with a growth in the thyroid and may not show early symptoms. Over time, it can cause swelling in the neck, voice changes, and difficulty swallowing.
