No individual named Guo or Wenyi Lin has been residing at the addresses declared by Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo’s father in his tax documents.
According to Mav Gonzales’ report on “24 Oras,” a resident at the listed address confirmed that no one named Guo or Wenyi Lin has lived there for the past decade. Additionally, a check with the local barangay revealed that the property only housed warehouses.
GMA Integrated News also visited the address in Valenzuela listed in documents presented by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian. There, they found no one by the name Guo or Wenyi Lin. The barangay records further indicated that no relatives of Mayor Guo had lived at these addresses.
Concerns about Mayor Guo’s identity arose during Senate hearings on illegal POGO operations in Bamban. The POGO compound raided by police was previously owned by a company linked to Guo.
The mayor’s identity has been under scrutiny after senators discovered her birth was registered late and she had no school records. Guo had claimed her father was Chinese, and her mother, a Filipino named Alice Leal Guo. However, there is no Philippine Statistics Authority record for Jian Zhong Guo or Amelia Leal Guo.
Senator Loren Legarda emphasized the national security risks, questioning how non-Filipino Chinese nationals were able to obtain Philippine birth certificates. She highlighted the need for thorough investigation.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian presented documents suggesting Wenyi Lin might be the mayor’s biological mother. Additional documents revealed Lin was an associate in seven family businesses with Guo’s father and siblings. It was also noted that Jian Zhong Guo and Lin Wen Yi traveled together at least 170 times over six years, raising questions about their relationship.
Senator Risa Hontiveros questioned the validity of Lin’s 1971 birthdate, which would imply he was only 15 at the time of Guo’s birth and 13 at the birth of her older sibling. She suggested further investigation into whether this was a dubious family business.
The Senate is set to hold executive sessions with intelligence agencies to discuss the findings and address the implications on national security.
