Authorities in the Philippines have apprehended a Norwegian national wanted in his home country for serious child sex-abuse offenses. According to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the suspect was arrested after a mission order was issued at the request of Norwegian authorities. He is considered an “undesirable alien” in the Philippines because his passport has reportedly been revoked by his home country and he is facing multiple outstanding warrants abroad.
The BI confirmed that the suspect was linked to a pattern of offenses involving minors in Norway, and that his presence in the Philippines posed a potential threat, especially to children. The migrant status of the suspect is also problematic — officials say he is undocumented, making him liable to deportation once legal proceedings are completed.
Authorities are now holding the man in a detention facility while they coordinate with Norwegian law-enforcement to arrange for his transfer and further prosecution.
