The National University (NU) Pep Squad dazzled a crowd of 19,121 with a stellar, space-themed routine to clinch their eighth UAAP Cheerdance Competition title on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Defying gravity with near-perfect execution, NU earned an impressive 713 points, reclaiming their throne and tying with the University of the Philippines (UP) Varsity Pep Squad and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Salinggawi Dance Troupe for the most wins in competition history.
Podium Finishers
Adamson University Pep Squad returned to the podium after three years, securing second place with 679.5 points. Their lively medley of videoke classics, including “Dancing Queen” and “I Will Survive,” struck a nostalgic chord with the audience.
Defending champions Far Eastern University (FEU) Cheering Squad rounded out the podium in third place with 650 points. Their Frozen-inspired routine, though visually stunning, fell short of repeating their winning streak.
Close Contenders
University of the East (UE) Pep Squad finished just outside the top three with 641 points, channeling the energy of the iconic Sexbomb Dancers with hits like “Halukay Ube” and “The Spaghetti Song.”
Eight-time winners UST and UP landed in fifth and sixth places, respectively. UST’s throwback to the ‘90s earned 634.5 points, while UP’s summer-themed performance brought in 560 points.
De La Salle University (DLSU) Animo Squad came in seventh with 525 points for their chess-inspired routine, and Ateneo Blue Eagles, despite their cosmic-themed ambitions, finished last with 490 points.
A Decade of Dominance
With this win, NU continues to cement its legacy in the cheerdance arena, dominating the competition over the past decade.
