In a recent surge of advocacy against animal cruelty, Filipino celebrities like Sarah Geronimo and Carla Abellana have expressed their dismay and called for justice following the brutal death of a dog named Killua. The incident came to light after the pet’s owner, Vina Rachelle, sought public support to bring attention to the heinous act, causing widespread outrage online and among animal rights groups.

Killua’s demise was first highlighted when Vina Rachelle shared a distressing account of her conversation with Anthony Solares, who confessed to the fatal beating of the dog, claiming it had bitten him. He even disclosed the sack where he placed Killua’s body, further proving the cruel act. A CCTV clip shared by Vina depicted a man, believed to be Solares, aggressively pursuing and assaulting Killua, leading to the animal’s eventual escape and death.

The shocking incident has not only captivated netizens but also prompted a strong response from celebrities, including Janella Salvador, Kim Atienza, and Chie Filomeno, who condemned the act of violence and demanded justice. Sarah Geronimo voiced her heartache on social media, emphasizing the pain and fear animals feel and advocating for their rights and protection. She vowed to stand as a voice for the helpless, pledging to seek justice for Killua.

Carla Abellana echoed the sentiment of justice prevailing soon, while Janella Salvador and Kim Atienza expressed their sorrow and called for legal action against the perpetrator. Atienza highlighted the gentle nature of golden retrievers, criticizing the unjust treatment of the animal. Chie Filomeno shared her grief online, further fueling the call for “Justice for Killua,” which has become a top trending topic.

The case has not only sparked a celebrity-led outcry but also initiated legal actions, with Vina Rachelle actively liaising with the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to address the tragic incident.
