CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Plainclothes police operatives arrested a 41-year-old drug dealer and seized two kilograms of suspected crystal methamphetamine (shabu) worth P13.6 million during an entrapment operation in Purok 4, Barangay Gusa, early Saturday, December 13, 2025. The successful bust, led by the Cagayan de Oro Police Office’s City Drug Enforcement Unit under Major Aldren Estrada Baculio and supported by Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) anti-narcotics teams, stemmed from tips about the suspect’s large-scale peddling in the area.

The operation unfolded as a classic trade-off: The suspect sold the drugs to undercover agents, leading to his immediate arrest. No shots were fired, and the seized evidence—packed for distribution—is now undergoing forensic confirmation. The suspect, a known figure in local drug circles and reportedly a former informant for defunct groups, faces charges under Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).

PRO-10 officials and the Cagayan de Oro City Peace and Order Council praised the coordinated effort, noting it disrupts supply lines feeding nearby barangays. “This is a clear message: Drug traffickers have no place in our city,” said a council spokesperson.

The haul adds to PRO-10’s 2025 seizures, amid a national push for safer communities during the holidays. As families prepare for Christmas, such operations safeguard streets from the scourge of illegal drugs.
