CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Authorities in Central Luzon seized and destroyed illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics valued at approximately P500,000 in a series of operations from December 26 to 29, 2025, as part of the intensified Ligtas Paskuhan Campaign ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3), in coordination with local government units and the Bureau of Fire Protection, targeted manufacturers, sellers, and stockpiles of banned items such as piccolo, boga, giant triangulo, and other unregulated explosives. The confiscated goods were publicly destroyed to prevent resale and demonstrate enforcement.
PRO-3 Director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr. emphasized safety: “These illegal firecrackers pose serious risks—explosions cause injuries, fires, and even deaths. We are committed to a safe and injury-free New Year.”
The operations covered multiple provinces, with significant hauls in Bulacan and Pampanga—known hubs for firecracker production. Vendors face charges under RA 7183 (Firecrackers Regulation Law) and local ordinances.
This crackdown aligns with nationwide efforts to reduce fireworks-related casualties, promoting community displays and safer alternatives like torotot.
