Legazpi City— As the world reopened aftertwo years of strict lockdown due to global Covid-19 pandemic, the Philippine Airlines Airbus flight will resume in Bicol International Airport starting on May 1, here.
Erwin Montas, PAL-Legazpi branch manager in a statement said that the Philippine Airlines (PAL) Airbus will resume operation at BIA starting May 1, this year.
The Philippine Airlines is the first major player of the country’s biggest airline operating in Legazpi City Domestic Airport now Bicol International Airport will resume its airbus flight next month as the interagency task force (IATF) lowered the alert level in Bicol region.
The Philippine Airlines has announced the operation of its airbus to and from Manila and Legazpi starting May 01, 2022 for flights PR 2919 and PR 2920. The twice a day airbus flightwill commence during the Labor Day celebration.
“PAL’s A320 Airbus has added 24 extra seats, bringing the total seat count to 180 for short-haulinter-island domestic routes,” the PAL manager in Legazpi City said.
The Philippine Airlines Airbus operation in Legazpi temporarily halted during the hardest lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic until today. But as the IATF eased out the travel restrictions in the countryside, the PAL management announced theoperation of its A320 Airbus to and from Manila and Legazpi starting May 01, 2022.
According to Capt. Stanley Ng, PAL Pres and COO the domestic travel was already over 80 percent this pre-pandemic period.
“For domestic travel, we’re already at more than 80% of our pre-pandemic level, while for international travel, we’re around at 60% of our pre-pandemic level. So, the results are really encouraging, ” he said through the FB post of Cielo Villaluna, PAL corporate communications officer.
Similarly, the PAL management also reopened the inter-island flights from its hub in Mactan, Cebu.
“The We have restored ourinter-island flights from our hub in Mactan, Cebu,” Villaluna said in her FB post.
The inter-island flights from Mactan, Cebu were the following: Cebu – Bacolod – Cebu Ceby – Boracay (Caticlan) -Cebu Cebu – Busuanga – Cebu Cebu – Butuan – Cebu Cebu – Cagayan de Oro – CebuCebu – Davao – Cebu Cebu – Iloilo – Cebu Cebu – Puerto Princesa -Tacloban Cebu – Siargao – Cebu Cebu – Tacloban – CebuCebu – Zamboanga – Cebu Earlier, the Cebu Pacific management also set to reopen its airbus flights in the Bicol region specifically in Legazpi City starting next month.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines in Bicol has announced the resumption of Cebu Pacific Airbus flights at Bicol International Airport (BIA) after the Interagency Task Force lowered the pandemic alert level status from level 2 to level 1 in Bicol Region.
In a letter sent to Cynthia M. Tumanut, CAAP Bicol area manager of Bicol International Airport by Merry Hope A Mirano, Cebu Pacific Air station head-1aviation on Monday said that beginning May 1, 2022, airbus flights will resume in the country’s most scenic international gateway.
The Cebu pac management is catering five flights daily in Legazpi-Manila and vice versa. The CEB also announced the additional two more flights from Cebu-Legazpi and vice versa on Wednesday and Sunday.
Since the opening of Bicol International Airport last October 8, 2021, the new airport has been catering to propeller aircrafts of two major airlines, the Philippine Airline and Cebu Pacific due to limited number of passengers following pandemic protocols.(Raydes Barcia)
