PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial announced that the league is carefully handling the case involving NorthPort Batang Pier guard John Amores, who was recently involved in a shooting incident in Laguna. Marcial confirmed that the PBA has already met with Amores, giving him an opportunity to explain his side.

Amores, alongside his brother, faces attempted homicide charges but was released after posting bail. Despite the ongoing legal issues, Amores’ contract with NorthPort remains active, pending the league’s final decision.

Marcial emphasized that due process is being observed, noting that Amores was asked to submit an explanation regarding possible contract violations within five days. The league, along with legal counsel, will review the case and determine the appropriate course of action, which may include suspension or further sanctions.

The PBA is expected to discuss the case in more detail next week, and Marcial said they will consider whether Amores can continue playing or if more severe penalties will be imposed.
