The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) officially broke ground on October 21, 2025 for the construction of its very own hospital and a dedicated first-responder/nursing facility at the PCG Base in Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.
This development comes as part of the PCG’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and health readiness of its personnel, their families and dependents — especially in times of emergency or disaster.
Located along M.L. Quezon Boulevard within the Taguig base, the project was led by PCG Commandant Adm. Ronnie Gil Gavan together with local Taguig officials.
According to official documents, the hospital will occupy a 15,579.62 m² lot and is designed to be a modern facility with land development, parking building, utilities and other essential hospital amenities.
The hospital was mandated under Republic Act 11372 (the “Philippine Coast Guard General Hospital Act”) which formally established the hospital for PCG personnel, their dependents and retired uniformed personnel.
With this facility, the PCG aims to provide a full range of healthcare services — from preventive, diagnostic, curative to rehabilitative care — not only for its workforce but potentially extending support to civilian communities nearby in times of crisis
This move signals a major milestone in the PCG’s infrastructure and welfare development, enhancing its capability to respond to maritime accidents, search-and-rescue operations, and other hazards while ensuring the health and well-being of its “Coastguardians.”
