The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Philippines has extended its deepest sympathies to the families of two Filipino crew members who tragically lost their lives in a missile attack by the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The attack targeted the civilian bulk carrier vessel True Confidence, which was navigating the strategic waters of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
In a statement released on Thursday, the DFA conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, highlighting the profound loss of the Filipino seafarers. “The Department of Foreign Affairs expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the two Filipino crew members of the civilian bulk carrier True Confidence, which was subjected to a missile strike from Houthi rebels in Yemen,” the DFA announced.
The True Confidence was carrying 16 Filipino crew members at the time of the attack. In addition to the two fatalities, three other crew members sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment in Djibouti. The DFA has committed to dispatching a team to Djibouti to provide assistance to the injured Filipino seafarers and facilitate support for all crew members affected by this tragic incident.
