The Philippines has secured the third spot in a global ranking of countries with the most beautiful people, based on performance in major international beauty pageants. The ranking was part of a study conducted by Wethrift, an online coupon platform, which calculated a “beauty score” based on results from Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, Miss Grand International, and Miss Earth competitions.
In the study, titleholders earned three points, while first and second runner-ups earned two and one point, respectively. The Philippines, with 16 titleholders, 12 first runner-ups, and seven second runner-ups, achieved a total beauty score of 79. Venezuela topped the list with a score of 127, followed by the United States with 125.
Other countries in the top 10 include the United Kingdom (62), India (58), Colombia (54), Australia (52), Brazil (50), Puerto Rico (47), and South Africa (41).
Nick Drewe, CEO of Wethrift and a beauty and lifestyle trend expert, highlighted how certain countries, like the Philippines, Venezuela, and the USA, have consistently performed well in beauty pageants, reflecting their strong cultural focus on these events. He also noted the evolving global beauty standards observed through shifts in pageant results.
The Philippines has won four Miss Universe crowns, with titleholders Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, Pia Wurtzbach, and Catriona Gray. The country also boasts six Miss International, four Miss Earth, one Miss World, and one Miss Grand International winners.
