Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Rommel Marbil has ordered the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to reopen the investigation into the 2020 murder of retired police general and PCSO Board Secretary Wesley Barayuga.

The decision follows new testimonies from a House of Representatives Quadcom hearing, where a policeman accused former PCSO General Manager Royina Garma and Napolcom Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo of orchestrating Barayuga’s killing. Marbil emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to ensure justice for Barayuga and his family.
