The Philippine National Police (PNP) is verifying the gun ownership of suspected members of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s alleged private army, known as the “angels of death.” PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said names have been provided to the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) to determine if these individuals possess firearms. The PNP is awaiting the FEO’s response.

There are also reports suggesting that some members of the group may be linked to the Philippine Army’s 2nd Signal Battalion, which includes reservists from Quiboloy-owned Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI). However, authorities have yet to disclose further details about the profiles of the suspected members.

SMNI’s legal counsel, Atty. Mark Tolentino, emphasized that SMNI staff who trained for the reserve force did so as Filipinos, not as members of a private army. KOJC lawyer Atty. Israelitio Torreon denied the existence of a private army, stating that Quiboloy’s group consists of “prayer warriors, not a private army.”

The “angels of death” were mentioned by Quiboloy’s alleged rape victims, who claimed they were threatened with retaliation if they disclosed their experiences. The investigation continues.
