In preparation for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have started deploying around 24,000 personnel around the Batasang Pambansa Complex.
Security and Traffic Measures
According to a report by Christian Maño on Super Radyo dzBB, the PNP has initiated checkpoint operations at the Quezon Memorial Circle and established a mobile outpost along Commonwealth Avenue. To ensure heightened security, officers have been stationed on every street near the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.
The MMDA has also been active, conducting clearing operations of illegally parked vehicles along IBP Road. To further support the event, approximately 22,000 police officers will be deployed, with the MMDA contributing an additional 2,000 personnel to assist motorists around the Batasang Pambansa area.
Extended Gun Ban
An extended gun ban is in effect across the National Capital Region (NCR) from Saturday, July 20, until midnight on Monday, July 22, to ensure the safety and security of the public during the SONA.
