Pope Francis is currently in a “good and stable” condition following a bout of lung inflammation. Receiving intravenous antibiotic therapy, he has been advised to curtail his activities temporarily to focus on recovery. A recent CT scan ruled out pneumonia but confirmed lung inflammation, causing breathing difficulties. Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni emphasized that the Pope’s respiratory condition is improving, and he remains fever-free. To aid his recovery, several of his important engagements have been postponed. Notably, Pope Francis had a part of his lung removed in his youth, a fact that underscores the significance of his current health situation. Despite these challenges, he is expected to maintain his easier institutional responsibilities, and his planned trip to Dubai for the UN climate change conference remains on schedule. Earlier this month, Pope Francis had to skip a speech due to a cold, but later appeared in good health at a children’s event. His resilience was also evident after fully recovering from an abdominal hernia surgery in June.
