Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-Yi) has caused significant power disruptions across Aurora, Isabela, and Nueva Ecija after making its way over Quirino Province on Sunday afternoon.

Power Disruptions Across Multiple Areas

As of 5 PM Sunday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported:

  • Isabela: Partial transmission services in Cauayan City, Angadanan, Cabatuan, and Luna under Iselco I.
  • Nueva Ecija: Similar issues in Natividad, Llanera, Palayan, Rizal, Gabaldon, Laur, Bongabon, and Talavera serviced by NEECO II Area 2.

Transmission services in Aurora remain completely down, particularly affecting Dingalan, San Luis, Maria Aurora, Baler, and Dipaculao, according to the Aurora Electric Cooperative (AURELCO).

Restoration Efforts Underway

The NGCP has mobilized line crews to conduct patrols and restoration activities in accessible areas. It emphasized that localized outages would need to be addressed by respective distribution utilities.

Typhoon’s Path and Impact

Pepito made its second landfall in Dipaculao, Aurora, on Sunday afternoon, triggering a Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 5 for the central portion of Aurora, southern Quirino, and southern Nueva Vizcaya.

At 5 PM, PAGASA located Pepito’s eye near Nagtipunan, Quirino, moving northwest at 25 kilometers per hour (kph). The storm packed maximum sustained winds of 185 kph and gusts reaching 305 kph.

Authorities continue to monitor and respond to the typhoon’s impact as it progresses.
