Ferdinand Marcos Jr. personally oversaw the rollout of fuel subsidies aimed at assisting public transport drivers affected by rising fuel prices.
The program is designed to provide financial assistance to drivers in the transport sector, including jeepney, taxi, and tricycle operators, whose livelihoods have been impacted by increasing fuel costs.
During the launch, the president emphasized that the subsidy initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to cushion the effects of fuel price volatility on both drivers and commuters. Officials said the assistance will help drivers manage operational expenses and continue providing public transportation services.
The subsidy distribution is being coordinated through various government agencies to ensure that qualified beneficiaries receive the support efficiently.
Authorities also noted that the program forms part of ongoing government measures to address the economic effects of global fuel price fluctuations and support workers in the transportation industry.
