The legal team of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy is contemplating withdrawing its appeal against his transfer from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame to the Pasig City Jail.

Atty. Israelito Torreon, Quiboloy’s legal counsel, expressed doubts about pursuing the appeal, stating that it might be futile given the prosecution’s apparent insistence on his transfer.

“It seems like the prosecution really wants him there. So we’ll just take it as it is,” Torreon said in an ambush interview at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Concerns Over Security

Torreon maintained that Camp Crame was a safer location for Quiboloy due to alleged security threats against him. However, he acknowledged that persisting with their motion could prove unproductive.

“Our only concern is his security. We felt he would be more secure in Camp Crame. But it might be useless to insist,” he said.

Quiboloy’s transfer occurred in November, and the Pasig court has not yet ruled on the motion for reconsideration filed by his camp.

Medical Update

Quiboloy, who experienced chest discomfort on November 7 and was subsequently brought to the Philippine Heart Center, is now reportedly in normal condition, according to Torreon.

Pending Cases

Quiboloy is facing non-bailable qualified human trafficking charges under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, along with charges under the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

Meanwhile, Torreon revealed that some complaints against KOJC members initially filed in Davao have been refiled before the DOJ. The next hearing for these cases, along with another involving Quiboloy, is scheduled for December 16.
