Detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy was briefly moved from the Philippine Heart Center to the Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City on Wednesday night for specialized medical tests, the Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed.
PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said the transfer was in compliance with a court order.
“At around 8:49 p.m., Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was brought to the Philippine Children’s Hospital for tests requiring specific equipment. He was returned to the Philippine Heart Center at approximately 9:10 p.m.,” Fajardo stated during a press briefing.
Medical Background
Quiboloy has been under medical care at the Philippine Heart Center since November 8, after experiencing chest discomfort. Initial examinations by the PNP Health Service diagnosed him with atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, commonly known as an irregular heartbeat.
The PNP Health Service recommended further evaluation, prompting Quiboloy’s legal team to file an urgent petition for hospital treatment. However, a Pasig City court denied his request for hospital arrest.
Quiboloy is expected to return to his detention cell at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame by 5 p.m. on Saturday, as per the court’s directive.
Legal Charges
Quiboloy, who refers to himself as the “Son of God,” is facing multiple non-bailable charges, including qualified human trafficking under Republic Act No. 9208 and offenses under the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act (RA 7610).
