The LRT1 Cavite Extension is set to launch partial operations on Saturday, November 16, 2024, with five new stations, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced during the project’s inauguration.
“Operations will start tomorrow at 5 a.m.,” President Marcos stated in an ambush interview. He encouraged commuters to experience the new line, emphasizing its convenience compared to daily traffic.
Phase 1: New Stations
The initial phase of the extension connects Baclaran Station in Pasay City to Dr. Santos Station in Parañaque City via the following new stations:
- Redemptorist-ASEANA Station
- MIA Road Station
- PITX Station
- Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station
- Dr. Santos (formerly Sucat) Station
This extension is expected to significantly improve travel efficiency, reducing travel time from Parañaque City to Quezon City by nearly an hour. It will also increase LRT1’s daily ridership capacity by 80,000, adding to its current 323,000 passengers.
Future Plans
Once fully completed, the LRT1 Cavite Extension project will feature eight new stations and will shorten the travel time from Baclaran in Parañaque to Bacoor, Cavite, to just 25 minutes, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
