Actor Rafael Rosell recently shared that he has been married to Valerie Gomez Chia since 2020. The couple tied the knot during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Quiet Wedding Amidst the Pandemic

On Thursday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Rosell revealed that they quietly signed their marriage papers on April 20, 2020. “We signed the papers just between us noong April 20, 2020. Very quiet and that’s our favorite number talaga,” he said. Despite the onset of COVID-19 and the ensuing lockdowns, the couple decided to proceed with the ceremony on their chosen date.

Postponed Celebrations

Initially, their wedding invitations were still active until mid-April, but the event was eventually cancelled due to the pandemic. “Hindi na namin tinuloy ‘yung ceremony, but the signing of the papers, tinuloy namin,” Rosell explained. The couple plans to hold a ceremony in the future, but they are content with their current status. “Na-realize din namin na ‘yung ceremony is for everyone. Eh for us, we’re happy the way it is talaga. So I think we owe them pakain,” he added.

Unique Relationship Dynamics

Rosell described his relationship with Chia as having a “weird” dynamic. They don’t frequently exchange “I love yous,” which Rosell attributes to the depth of his feelings. “We have a different dynamic. Sinabi ko kasi dati na parang it used to be so easy for me to just bitawan ‘yung I love you na three words sa mga partners ko, pero dito sa relationship ngayon, parang ang hirap sabihin ‘yung totoong nararamdaman mo,” he shared. He feels that the intensity of his emotions makes it challenging to verbalize them.

Social Media and Hashtags

On social media, Rosell often uses specific hashtags like #HasselKa and #LecheKa in posts featuring Chia. He explained, “When I realized I was in love with her, it was like ‘Oh no. Guys, I think I’m in love. This is gonna be [a] hassle.’ Alam ko na isa-sacrifice ko ‘yung kaligayahan ko para sa kaniya.” Rosell feels that his love for Chia is profound and unavoidable. “She got my heart eh. Love is such a difficult force to fight against,” he said.

Upcoming Project

Rosell is set to star in “Widows’ War,” a spinoff of the popular murder-mystery series “Royal Blood” and “Widow’s Web.” The series, directed by Zig Dulay, features a star-studded cast including Bea Alonzo, Carla Abellana, Tonton Gutierrez, Jean Garcia, Rita Daniela, Jeric Gonzales, Benjamin Alves, Juancho Triviño, Jackie Lou Blanco, and James Graham. “Widows’ War” will begin airing on July 1 at 8:50 PM.
