The Holy Month of Ramadhan will officially begin on Sunday, March 2, 2025, after the crescent moon was not sighted on Friday, February 28, according to Bangsamoro Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani.

Following Islamic tradition, when the new moon is not visible, the current lunar month is completed as 30 days before Ramadhan begins.

The hilal (moon sighting) process is a significant practice in Islam, ensuring accurate observance of Ramadhan while fostering unity and spiritual preparation among Muslims.

As the faithful prepare for the sacred month, they are encouraged to observe fasting, prayer, and reflection in accordance with Islamic teachings.

To accommodate fasting hours, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has adjusted working hours for government employees during Ramadhan, shifting from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m
