The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is on schedule to connect all Department of Education (DepEd) schools nationwide to the internet by December 2025, according to Rep. Grace Poe.
Poe shared that the initiative is part of the government’s ongoing effort to enhance digital learning and bridge connectivity gaps across the country. The project aims to ensure that every public school — including those in remote and underserved areas — gains access to reliable internet service.
She emphasized that digital access is now a basic educational need, especially in the post-pandemic learning environment where online tools and resources are vital. Poe also urged the DICT to ensure the quality and sustainability of internet connections once installed, noting that many schools still struggle with slow or unstable service.
DICT officials confirmed that the project rollout is progressing well, with major infrastructure already in place. The agency said the goal is not only to meet the December deadline but to establish a long-term framework for digital inclusion in education.
