In the romantic comedy “3 Days 2 Nights in Poblacion,” Barbie Imperial faced a daunting task beyond acting alongside her former boyfriend JM de Guzman—she had to kiss him. Director RC delos Reyes revealed that the scene, integral to the story, required some persuasion for Imperial, given its deeply personal nature. Despite initial reservations and Imperial’s request to omit the kiss, delos Reyes emphasized its narrative importance.

The film narrates the story of two best friends, Charlie (Imperial) and Gabbi (Jasmine Curtis-Smith), reuniting after years apart, with their adventure in Poblacion complicated by the arrival of Javi (de Guzman) and a web of secrets. RC delos Reyes, who co-wrote the story, shared his personal effort in assembling the cast, highlighting the enduring “romantic pull” between Imperial and de Guzman, as well as their professional respect for each other’s acting skills.

The inclusion of the kissing scene, a topic of significant deliberation, ultimately showcased a “spark” that even co-star Jasmine Curtis-Smith found impressive. The director praised the dynamic among the leads, emphasizing their commitment to authenticity and the unique challenge of portraying friendship and romance on screen.

“3 Days 2 Nights in Poblacion” not only explores the complexities of relationships but also celebrates the vibrant culture and spirit of Makati’s Poblacion area, serving as a backdrop to the characters’ journey. This film, set to hit cinemas nationwide on March 13, promises a blend of friendship, love, and personal growth, resonating with anyone who’s navigated the nuances of reconnecting with the past.
