The latest OCTA Research findings signal an upward trend in the public’s perception of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte, as revealed in the Tugon ng Masa (TNM) nationwide survey. The fourth quarter of 2023 saw both leaders experiencing a notable increase in their trust and performance ratings compared to the previous quarter.

President Marcos’s trust rating ascended to an impressive 76%, marking a 3% increment from the third quarter results. Even more remarkable is the leap in his performance rating, which surged from 65% in October to a robust 71%.

Vice President Duterte also witnessed a surge in public confidence, with her trust rating reaching 77%, a 2% rise from the previous quarter. Her performance satisfaction mirrored this positive trend, escalating to 75%, a 5% increase from the third quarter figures.

These encouraging statistics follow a period of decline in the trust and performance ratings for both Marcos and Duterte, highlighting a significant recovery in public sentiment.

The survey, executed through face-to-face interviews from December 10-14, 2023, encompassed a diverse group of 1,200 respondents, both male and female, aged 18 years and above.

Geographically, the trust ratings showcased regional variations. President Marcos secured his peak trust rating in the Visayas at 79%, while his lowest was recorded in Mindanao at 69%. Conversely, Vice President Duterte achieved an astounding 99% trust rating in Mindanao, though her Luzon rating stood at 64%.

Performance satisfaction ratings followed a similar pattern. Marcos attained his highest satisfaction score in Balance Luzon (77%) and the lowest in Mindanao (57%). Duterte’s ratings spanned from a high of 97% in Mindanao to 61% in Luzon.

Notably, the survey also recorded positive shifts in satisfaction ratings for House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Senate President Miguel Zubiri, further indicating a broader trend of improving perceptions among the country’s top leadership.
