Senator and actor Robin Padilla highlighted his and the Padilla family’s respect for Kathryn Bernardo following her breakup with Daniel Padilla, acknowledging that it was Bernardo who helped Daniel get his big break in show business.
During a media conference for the Gringo Honasan biopic on June 26, where Robin will portray the retired soldier and politician, he was asked about the former couple’s split.
“Magkakabalikan ‘yon,” Robin commented on their breakup. “‘Pag gumawa ng pelikula ‘yon, magkakabalikan ‘yon.”
Robin noted the nature of such partnerships in the industry, stating, “Sa tagal natin sa industriya, alam naman nating lahat na ang mga ganyang partnership, love team ay dadaan talaga sa prosesong ganyan kasi nagma-mature sila e.”
Robin also expressed his hope that Bernardo and Daniel would reconcile, humorously adding that his support for her remains strong despite her not voting for him in the previous election.
Offering advice to the pair, Robin said, “Ngayon habang magkahiwalay kayong dalawa ay mag-enjoy din kayo sa mga sarili niyo. Habang nag-eenjoy kayo, do’n niyo malalaman na mahal niyo ang isa’t isa.”
Robin mentioned that while Daniel does not confide in him about such matters, he shows his emotions through singing.
“Nanghinayang ako,” Robin admitted. “Alam naman natin lahat na—alam lahat ng Padilla na malaki ang aming pagbigay pugay kay Kathryn kasi siya rin naman ang nagbigay ng break kay Daniel.”
“We all know that, and our respect for Kathryn is immense,” he emphasized.
Bernardo and Daniel publicly confirmed their breakup in November 2023 after being together for 11 years.
