Senator Risa Hontiveros disclosed on Monday that Alice Guo, the dismissed mayor of Bamban, also known as the Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, left the Philippines for Malaysia on July 18, 2024. According to Hontiveros, Guo used her Philippine passport to exit the country and later traveled to Singapore to meet her family, including her parents who flew in from China.
Hontiveros raised concerns over the involvement of government officials in allowing Guo to leave the country despite ongoing investigations. She urged a thorough investigation into the law enforcement agencies responsible, suggesting that officials might have aided Guo’s departure.
Meanwhile, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has not confirmed Guo’s departure, with DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano stating that as far as they know, Guo remains in the Philippines. The DOJ plans to continue gathering information to determine the truth of the matter.
