Sheryl Cruz made a surprising revelation about her past relationship with Anjo Yllana during the May 23 episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.” The actress disclosed that Yllana proposed to her before she moved to the United States in the 1990s, but their engagement ended after Yllana impregnated someone else.
A Broken Engagement
Cruz recounted the events that led to their breakup: “Actually, nagtampo ako sa kanya noon because he actually asked for my hand in marriage that time—before I left for the States and decided to actually try it there, and met Norman,” she said, referring to her now-former husband Norman Bustos.
“Nagtampo ako because he asked for my hand in marriage and I said yes, and then I found that he got somebody pregnant. So ‘di ba, kahit papaano [he] broke my heart,” she continued.
A Chance to Reconnect
After returning to the Philippines and divorcing Bustos, Cruz and Yllana, who was also separated at the time, had a chance to reconnect. “Nagkaroon kami ng moment wherein we were able to see each other again, catch up on things, and tried to—I guess—have another go at it,” she shared. Unfortunately, the relationship didn’t work out, but Cruz emphasized that they have since moved past their history and are now good friends.
Other Relationships
During the interview, Cruz also touched on her past relationships, including her former love team partner Romnick Sarmenta. She noted that Sarmenta courted her, but she didn’t consider their relationship serious due to her other priorities at the time.
Family Life
Cruz married Norman Bustos in 1996, and they have a daughter named Ashley. The couple filed for divorce in 2008.
