In Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao, Pangasinan, a snake entangled in an electric post became the center of attention, causing anxiety among the local residents and passing motorists. The unfortunate incident unfolded as the snake, seemingly after a meal near a tree, ascended the post, got disoriented, and then suffered an electric shock, as narrated by a witness named Dale.

Quick to respond, authorities arrived at the scene and managed to retrieve the snake, which was found to be alive but injured. The snake was then entrusted to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) for proper care and attention.

Mark Paolo Caspillan, the Calasiao Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENR) Officer, shed light on the possible reasons behind such unexpected appearances of snakes. He pointed out that factors like feeding season, disturbance of their natural habitat, or even climate change and warmer weather conditions can prompt snakes to venture out from their usual environments.

In light of this incident, authorities emphasized the importance of proper handling of wild animals, particularly endangered species. Caspillan urged the public not to engage with these animals, especially without the necessary training or knowledge. Instead, he advised residents to refrain from harming the animals and to seek assistance from local authorities or relevant offices when encountering such situations.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable encounters between wildlife and human habitats, highlighting the need for awareness and appropriate response measures to ensure the safety of both the public and the animals involved.
