SAN ANTONIO – Legendary San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is now resting at home after reportedly fainting at a local steakhouse earlier this week, according to multiple sources.

The incident occurred Tuesday evening around 8:20 p.m. CT. TMZ, which broke the story, reported that Popovich was conscious and speaking as he was placed in an ambulance after collapsing. While the medical emergency appeared alarming, his condition was not considered life-threatening.

Popovich, 76, had already been sidelined for most of the 2024–25 NBA season after suffering a stroke before a November 2 game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He officially stepped away from coaching duties in February but has expressed hopes of returning next season.

Reports suggest the recent health scare may be linked to ongoing stroke-related issues. Popovich spent around two hours at the restaurant before emergency responders were called.

A five-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer, Popovich is one of the most respected coaches in league history, boasting 1,412 regular-season wins and leading the Spurs through an unprecedented 18 consecutive 50-win seasons.

Assistant coach Mitch Johnson completed the team’s 34–48 season in his absence.
