The upcoming historical action-drama “Pulang Araw,” slated for a 2024 release, is generating buzz with its announcement of a star-studded cast featuring Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards. The cast recently attended a story conference to discuss their roles and the storyline, which will explore events during the Japanese occupation era and World War II in the Philippines.
Barbie Forteza, taking on the role of Adelina, and Alden Richards, portraying her half-brother Eduardo with American heritage, lead the ensemble. Sanya Lopez will play Teresita, Adelina’s half-sister. The series also marks a reunion for Barbie and Sanya, who previously worked together in the series “Half Sisters.” David Licauco will step into the shoes of Hiroshi, a Japanese soldier, for which he is preparing by studying the Japanese language.
The actors have expressed their excitement and gratitude for being part of a project that revisits and honors Philippine history. Alden Richards hopes that “Pulang Araw” will serve as a companion to viewers, acknowledging the sacrifices made during the war era. The inclusion of real-life war stories aims to deepen the narrative’s authenticity and impact.
