PAMPANGA — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized approximately P1 million worth of suspected kush (a potent synthetic cannabinoid-laced marijuana variant) at the Port of Clark in Pampanga on January 13, 2026.
The contraband, hidden inside a consignment of imported goods from Canada, was discovered during a joint inspection by PDEA, Bureau of Customs (BOC), and X-ray scanning teams. The shipment was declared as “personal effects and household items” but tested positive for high-THC synthetic cannabis.
Seizure Details
- Estimated Street Value: ₱1 million
- Form: Dried herbal material laced with synthetic cannabinoids (kush)
- Concealment Method: Concealed in vacuum-sealed packages inside boxes labeled as clothing and personal belongings
- Origin: Canada (via air cargo shipment)
- No Arrests Yet: The importer/consignee is under investigation; no individuals have been arrested as of January 14, but PDEA is pursuing leads on the recipient network in Central Luzon and Metro Manila.
PDEA Regional Director Aileen Lovelle stated:
“Kush continues to be a growing threat because of its high potency and low cost. This interception at the Port of Clark shows our vigilance in air cargo channels. We are working closely with BOC to trace the supply chain and identify the intended distribution network.”
The seized substance will undergo chemical laboratory analysis to confirm the exact synthetic cannabinoids involved. The case is now under in-depth investigation for possible violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).
This is the latest in a series of air cargo interceptions at Clark, which has become a key entry point for synthetic drugs targeting the domestic market.
Here are photos released by PDEA showing the seized packages, X-ray images of the concealed drugs, and the press conference announcing the interception.
Authorities continue to warn the public against involvement in illegal drug activities — report suspicious shipments or activities to PDEA or PNP.
