The TNT Tropang Giga are once again champions of the PBA, this time seizing the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup crown after a hard-fought Game 7 win over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
In front of over 21,000 fans at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, TNT edged out Ginebra in an intense overtime battle, 87-83, securing their 11th PBA championship. The series, which stretched to seven games, needed an extra five minutes to decide a winner.
Ginebra forced overtime in dramatic fashion, with Justin Brownlee sinking a clutch triple with just 21 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 79-all. But TNT roared back with a 6-0 run in OT, capped by a key three-pointer from Glenn Khobuntin that put them ahead 85-79.
Although Ginebra trimmed the lead to two in the final minute, a crucial basket by Calvin Oftana gave TNT the cushion they needed. Brownlee missed a potential game-tying shot from beyond the arc, and the Tropang Giga celebrated as the final buzzer sounded.
TNT head coach Chot Reyes praised his team’s resilience: “It was pure guts. At that point, it wasn’t about strategy anymore — it was about grit and making stops.”
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson led TNT with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and all-around contributions despite limping late in the game. Rey Nambatac, who scored 22 points in Game 7, earned Finals MVP honors with averages of 17.85 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in the series.
For Ginebra, Brownlee tallied 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Japeth Aguilar added 15 points and 11 boards. Scottie Thompson came close to a triple-double with 13 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.
This was a rematch of their PBA Governors’ Cup Finals clash just four months ago, where TNT also emerged victorious.
