Two separate fire incidents in Tanza, Cavite, and Dipolog City have resulted in the loss of six lives, including that of a newborn less than a week old. The devastating events unfolded on March 6, 2024, marking a sorrowful day for the communities affected.

In a report by GTV “Balitanghali,” it was revealed that a family of four perished in a fire in Barangay Biwas, Tanza, Cavite. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the victims were trapped inside their burning home, with another family member sustaining injuries. Five houses were consumed by the blaze, and investigations are ongoing to determine the fire’s origin.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Sicayab, Dipolog City, a tragic narrative unfolded as a 17-year-old mother and her six-day-old baby succumbed to a fire. According to Krissa Dapitan’s report for GMA Regional TV, the mother and child were asleep when the fire erupted and could not escape their home, constructed from light materials. The family’s patriarch was not at home during the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that a lit kerosene lamp might have sparked the fire.

These heartbreaking incidents serve as a grim reminder of the importance of fire safety measures and the need for vigilant emergency preparedness within communities.
