Seoul, South Korea: Big Hit Music, the label behind global K-pop phenomenon BTS, has announced that members RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have initiated the process of enlisting for their mandatory military service. The news was shared via the fan community app WeVerse, confirming the group’s ongoing commitment to fulfilling their national duties.
While the exact dates of their enlistment have not been disclosed, Big Hit Music has assured fans that further updates will be provided in due course. These four members are the last of the seven-piece ensemble to start their conscription. Previously, Jin, the eldest member of the group, joined South Korea’s armed forces in December 2022, followed by J-Hope in April and Suga in September.
In South Korea, all able-bodied men under the age of 30 are required to serve at least 18 months in the military, a mandate influenced by the country’s ongoing technical state of war with North Korea. Prior to Jin’s enlistment, BTS announced a hiatus from group activities, allowing members to focus on individual solo careers.
This development marks a significant moment for BTS and their global fan base, as the group navigates the balance between their international stardom and national obligations.
