The Philippine cross-country film “Under Parallel Skies,” featuring the talented Janella Salvador and Thai actor Win Metawin, is poised to make its world premiere at the prestigious 17th Asian Film Awards (AFA) in Hong Kong. Director Sigrid Bernardo shared this exciting news via her Instagram, marking a significant milestone as the first film of its kind from the Philippines to debut in such a grand manner.

The gala premiere of “Under Parallel Skies” is scheduled for March 11 at APM in Kwun Tong, followed by its official Hong Kong premiere at the B+ cinema. This event will not only be a showcase of the film but also a celebration of the collaboration between the Philippine and Thai entertainment industries.

Both Janella Salvador and Win Metawin, along with executive producers from 28 Squared Studios, members of the AFA committee, and the film’s partners, are expected to grace the event, along with select guests of honor. Salvador, expressing her enthusiasm, invited fans to the premiere, teasing them about the characters Iris and Parin whom they will meet in the movie.

“Under Parallel Skies” explores the lives of two individuals in Hong Kong – a man haunted by his past and a woman who plays a crucial role in his life’s story. The announcement of Salvador and Metawin’s collaboration had already generated buzz among fans since rumors started in June 2023, with the project being officially confirmed by the production company a month later.

This film’s premiere at the AFA signifies not only the growing influence of Philippine cinema in the Asian market but also the potential for more cross-country collaborations in the future.
