South Korea’s vibrant music scene is set to welcome a groundbreaking addition, UNIS, a K-pop girl group that notably includes three Filipina talents. The group’s formation was finalized in the concluding episode of the South Korean reality competition “Universe Ticket,” marking a significant moment for the international representation in the K-pop industry.

Elisia Parmisano, the 14-year-old Filipina sensation, was the first to secure her spot in UNIS, etching her name in history as the first Filipino to achieve the top rank in a Korean survival show. Joining her are Jin Hyeon-ju, a 22-year-old Filipino-Korean, and Gehlee Dangca, a 16-year-old from Las Piñas, adding to the group’s diverse and talented lineup. This trio’s inclusion in UNIS not only highlights their individual talents but also signifies the first time a K-pop group will have a Filipino line, as reported by Koreaboo.

The other members completing UNIS are Nana, Oh Yoona, Kotoko, Lim Seo-won, and Bang Yunha, each bringing their unique flair and skills to the ensemble. While the debut date for UNIS is yet to be announced, anticipation is building among K-pop enthusiasts eager to witness the fusion of talents and cultures this new group promises.

“Universe Ticket,” the platform that brought UNIS to life, featured an esteemed panel of judges, including singer and actress Kim Se-jeong, singer Younha, and record producer Adora. Their expertise and guidance played a pivotal role in shaping the final lineup of the group.

As UNIS gears up for its debut, the inclusion of Elisia Parmisano, Gehlee Dangca, and Jin Hyeon-ju stands as a testament to the global appeal and inclusive nature of the K-pop industry. Fans around the world, especially in the Philippines, await with bated breath to see how these talented individuals will make their mark and contribute to the evolving narrative of K-pop.
