The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Stratton (WMSL-752) docked in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan from May 16 to 19 to reinforce maritime cooperation between the United States and the Philippines.

Led by Captain Brian Krautler, the Stratton’s visit included collaborative discussions with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), focusing on operational best practices and maritime coordination. The crew was welcomed by U.S. Ambassador MaryKay Carlson and PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan.

“This is the sixth USCG cutter exchange with the PCG since 2019. These engagements reflect the strong and growing alliance between our nations,” said Ambassador Carlson, emphasizing the importance of deepening trust and interoperability.

Two PCG officers also joined the Stratton’s journey from Guam, participating in deck operations, engineering drills, and mooring exercises.

While in Palawan, the Stratton joined forces with the PCG and the Philippine Navy for an at-sea exercise in the Sulu Sea. The drills focused on maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, and environmental protection.

Following its Philippine visit, the Stratton is set to continue to Japan for a trilateral exercise involving the U.S., Philippine, and Japanese coast guards.
