The US Embassy in the Philippines has issued a strict reminder: beginning May 19, 2025, immigrant visa applicants who fail to bring all required original documents to their appointment will have their interviews canceled and must reschedule.
In an advisory, the embassy warned that missing documents will not only result in rescheduling but could also mean waiting months for the next available slot.
Applicants must bring the following:
- Valid passport
- Original civil documents (such as birth certificates)
- Original police clearances (e.g., NBI clearance for those aged 16 and above)
- Affidavit of support and supporting financial/tax documents from the petitioner or joint sponsors
- DS-260 confirmation page
- Interview appointment letter
Other possible requirements include:
- Medical exam results from St. Luke’s Extension Clinic
- NBI clearance with alias/AKA (for applicants with nicknames or aliases)
- Petitioner’s original birth certificate
- Proof of termination of previous marriages, if applicable
The embassy emphasized that arriving unprepared not only disrupts individual applications but also slows down the overall visa processing system.
“All immigrant visa applicants should be fully prepared for their appointment. Incomplete documents cause significant delays and reduce the number of applicants we can interview daily,” the US Embassy stated.
Applicants are strongly urged to double-check their documents well ahead of their scheduled interview date.
