Gloria Romero, an iconic figure in Philippine cinema, has passed away at the age of 91.
Her daughter, Maritess Gutierrez, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, writing:
“With great sadness, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Gloria Galla Gutierrez, also known as Gloria Romero, who peacefully joined our Creator earlier today, January 25, 2025.”
The wake will be held at Arlington Memorial Chapel in Quezon City. Maritess added:
“Our family deeply appreciates the prayers, support, and heartfelt condolences during this time of loss. She will be dearly missed.”

With a career spanning over seven decades, Gloria Romero earned recognition for her exceptional performances in films such as Magnifico, Dalagang Ilocana, Tarima, Tanging Yaman, and Rainbow’s Sunset. She also graced countless television shows.
In February 2024, a star-studded tribute celebrated her legacy as the “Queen of Philippine Cinema.” Two months later, she received the Film Development Council of the Philippines’ Lifetime Achievement Award for her monumental contribution to Filipino cinema and culture.
