Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto officially began his third and final term with a firm declaration: he will not run for any position in the 2028 elections.

During his inaugural speech, Sotto said that by taking politics out of the equation early, he can freely and fully focus on leading the city according to his principles. “I’m telling you now—I won’t run in 2028. This gives me the freedom to do what I believe is right,” he said.

Now entering his constitutionally mandated final term, Sotto reaffirmed his commitment to pushing forward meaningful reforms and public service unhampered by political calculations.

He also extended a hand of unity to his political opponents, inviting them to collaborate for Pasig’s continued progress. “What I couldn’t say during the campaign, I can say now. To our rivals—we offer peace, we offer unity. Let’s work together for the good of our city,” he said.

However, he was clear that this gesture of cooperation does not mean forgetting past transgressions. “There must still be accountability for crimes that were committed,” Sotto emphasized.

First elected in 2019, Sotto has become known for his reformist and transparent leadership, championing good governance throughout his tenure.
