Janine and Jove Sagario, the couple from Negros Oriental who went viral due to a wedding mishap, had the opportunity to retake their vows in a beautifully organized ceremony.

A Second Chance at a Perfect Ceremony

FoxDesign Studios shared a video of the couple’s renewed wedding ceremony, held at an event venue in Dumaguete City and officiated by Amlan, Negros Oriental Mayor Manjoe Sycip. The video featured Janine in a stunning wedding gown designed by Anthony Sinco.

This second ceremony was made possible by the generosity of several suppliers in Negros Oriental, who sponsored an all-expense-paid “Take 2” after learning about the issues that marred the original event.

The Original Mishap

On June 8, the couple’s wedding faced an unexpected rush when the officiating priest began the ceremony before the bride even reached the altar. This premature start occurred due to a miscommunication about the ceremony’s timing. The wedding, originally scheduled for 8 a.m., was moved to 9:30 a.m. due to incorrect information from one of the couple’s ninangs, who later apologized for the mistake.

Compounding the confusion, the priest hurried the ceremony to accommodate a scheduled funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. This led to a less than ideal experience for the couple and their guests.

Apology from the Diocese

In the aftermath of the mishap, the Diocese of Dumaguete-Commission on Catechesis and Saint Andrew Parish issued an apology to the couple, their families, friends, and guests.

“We humbly admit the fact that along the way, there were statements made carried away by emotions,” stated Msgr. Albert Erasmo Bohol, the parish priest. “Hence, we express our sincere apology to the bride and the groom, to their respective families who were directly offended by the turn of these events, and to the people who have seen our humanity as priests in a time when we were weakest of any possible control.”

The parish also extended their apologies to the bereaved family who had to wait for the wedding to conclude before their scheduled funeral mass.
