WASHINGTON — U.S. Vice President JD Vance declared that Iran no longer has the capacity to develop a nuclear weapon following recent U.S. military strikes on key nuclear facilities.
In an interview aired on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Vance said Iran was on the verge of acquiring nuclear capability but that U.S. forces successfully crippled their infrastructure.
“Iran was very close to having a nuclear weapon,” Vance stated. “Now, with their current equipment destroyed, they are incapable of building one.”
The statement comes days after U.S. airstrikes targeted and reportedly damaged nuclear sites in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow — a move U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed as a direct blow to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
