Vice President Sara Duterte downplayed her impeachment by the House of Representatives, saying that heartbreak is worse than political ousting.
“Mas masakit pa maiwan ng boyfriend o girlfriend kaysa ma-impeach ka ng House of Representatives,” she quipped during a press conference on Friday.
The House of Representatives voted to impeach Duterte on Wednesday, with 215 lawmakers endorsing the complaint. The Articles of Impeachment have been transmitted to the Senate, where she will undergo trial once sessions resume in June.
Duterte Stands Her Ground
Despite the impeachment, Duterte made it clear she will not resign from her position.
Meanwhile, Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero stated that the impeachment court has yet to be convened, and proceedings will only begin after the Senate resumes session.
