MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte returned to the Philippines early Saturday after a four-day personal trip to Malaysia with her family.

According to the Office of the Vice President (OVP), Duterte landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 5:43 a.m. aboard Philippine Airlines flight PR 530.

During her visit, she attended a Malaysian Independence Day celebration with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). The trip coincided with the delivery of a writ of summons for her impeachment case by the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms.

The Senate, acting as an impeachment court, voted 18-5 to return the articles of impeachment to the House of Representatives without dismissing the case, leaving the matter unresolved.

The Vice President was impeached by the House on February 5, with over 200 lawmakers backing charges including betrayal of public trust, constitutional violations, and corruption. Duterte’s legal team is now preparing a formal response to the Senate summons.

The OVP also announced that Duterte will be attending the PASIDUNGOG awarding ceremony in Davao City on Monday, June 16.
