Vice President Sara Duterte called on the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 2025 to be defenders of truth and integrity, not tools of abuse or betrayal by those in power.
In a heartfelt video message posted on her official Facebook page, Duterte congratulated the graduating “Siklab Laya” class during their commencement at Fort del Pilar, Baguio City. She urged the new military officers to stand firm for righteousness, truth, and real change in service to the Filipino people.
“Let your service ignite the strength and freedom we strive for as a nation,” Duterte said, reminding the cadets to be courageous and resist being instruments of oppression.
The Vice President highlighted the graduates’ brave choice to pursue a life of selfless service, noting that their decision to enter PMA reflected their deep patriotism and commitment to upholding national values amid inequality and abuse of power.
Duterte encouraged the cadets to carry the virtues of courage, integrity, and loyalty beyond the academy. She also emphasized the importance of remaining non-partisan and independent, resisting political or foreign influence.
“Stand unbowed. Keep the fire within you burning,” she concluded, congratulating the Siklab Laya Class of 2025.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was also expected to attend the graduation.
